Introduction of Siddha Yoga

Kaulantak Peethadeshwar Shree Mahayogi Satyendra Nath ji maharaj. The Siddha yogi

Yoga is the ultimate spiritual discipline. It is the most popular and sought after discipline for human salvation. From Adi Natha to Gautam Buddha, from Vigyana Bhairava to Patanjali, Yoga has been the discipline that has guided all the Siddhas and Buddhas to reach the highest aim of human life.

Yoga means union. To unite with the higher consciousness then the self is yoga. For a soul to unite with the super soul is Yoga. It also means to perform ones duty with excellence or mastery. "योगः कर्मसु कौशलम्" Geeta 2:50. Yoga for Lord Krishna is to be so proficient that the person performs his karma with excellence. Besides this there are lot of definition of Yoga, but the subject of the Astral Pathway is Siddha yoga.

"Siddha Yoga" is the yogic discipline and lineage of the Siddha tradition of the Himalayas. It originated from the father of all Siddhas, "Shiva". Shiva gave the knowledge to Ma Parvati, Lord Narayana and indirectly to Mahasiddha Matsyendra Nath. The Nath lineage then forwarded the Siddha yoga of the Mahasiddha Matsyendra Nath. The Siddha yoga of the Nath is of the rajas mode, it is equally practicable by both householders and ascetics.

Mahasiddha Goraksh Nath, he was the greatest propagator of yoga. It is some of his quotes that is followed by the works of other siddhas that has contributed to the emergence of Yoga in modern day society. Siddha Yoga is like the sky scraper of Yoga and the quotes of the siddhas are the building blocks and bricks of the sky scraper. Siddha Yoga basically has a fixed pattern on how to perform yoga. It is strictly practiced because it has always been practiced and furthered by Guru disciple lineage.

Siddha Yoga consists of Yoga Krida, Asana, Pranayama, Sookshma Vyayama. Siddha Yoga basically gives more priority to Yoga Krida and Sookshma Vyayama compared to other Yogas. It prioritizes Yoga Krida and Sookshma Vyayama before performing Asanas because it is believed that the body has to be prepared for the Asana. There is something in Yoga Krida that is exceptionally awesome and that is the basis of the whole Siddha Yoga. It will be discussed in the upcoming lines.

Mahasiddha Goraksh Nath says "हसिबा खेलिबा धरिबा ध्यानं" which literally means, one should playfully and in good mood perform meditation. Asana is the base of meditation. It is in Asana meditation is performed. Therefore, to perform any Asana, one should make their body ready. This is done by Yoga Krida which means Yoga exercises. According to Maha Siddha Goraksh Nath, Yoga exercises are to be performed in a good and playful mood. Yoga exercise should never be monotonous and it should always be fun for the practitioner. Therefore, Yoga Krida should be fun, that is for the reason Yoga exercises are performed in a playful way and less like a discipline. This is what separates the Siddha Yoga with the other Yogas.

Most of the Yoga is somehow similar to Siddha Yoga as all the Yoga trace their source to Lord Shiva. When the Yoga passed through different Rishi Munis, they added their bit of experience in it and then different forms of Yoga evolved. Siddha Yoga is the most pure form of Yoga. The fundamental difference between Siddha Yoga and the ordinary Yoga is that the Siddha Yoga is Rajas mode. It is Rajas mode that makes Siddha Yoga embrace playfullness and adds rhythm to the Yoga.

Siddha Yoga radiates the inner beauty while performing the Asanas. It is Rajas panthi that is for the reason the correct practice of the Siddha Yoga adds beauty to your life as well as leads you to Samadhi.

I was fortunate enough to have learnt Siddha Yoga from His Holines Kaulantak Peethadeshwar Mahayogi Satyendra Nath ji maharaja. I have been blessed by His Holiness to further this knowledge and discipline to the society. Om Sam Siddhaya namah.
